US legalization of jail breaking/unlocking of iPhones/cell phones
The US government has made a shocking ruling by legalizing in USA all of Apple iPhone’s and cell phone’s ‘jail breaking’ or unlocking or cracking for educational purposes. With this judgement, it is perfectly legal and there is nothing bad or unethical about it in the USA. Thus, one can jail break his iPhone/cell phone and install in it third party apps without bothering about its legality or about Apple cops.
Jail breaking is very different from hacking and it is well-known how jail breaking an Apple iPhone (now iPhone 4 with iOS 4) has become a big cottage industry involving several people.
The logicality behind the legalization of jail breaking or unlocking is that iPhone belongs to its user and not Apple as well as a mobile belongs to its user and not the company once they are sold to the customers. Apple restrained this move as they believed that by running unauthorized programmes or apps, the popularity of iPhones would take a beating.
But the PC world’s view that even the government’s approval to jail breaking would not save the iPhone users seems correct as there are several other things such as a void warranty by Apple which a user have to take into account before jail breaking his iPhone.
Thus, it is advisable not to jail break an Apple iPhone.
